We are having a great time. Katie Beth is enjoying “Super Soaker Sunder”. She is having the children squirt her with their water pistols.

I had Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout from North Coast Brewing Co.

It is a rich full body beer with heavy chocolate and smoky malt flavors.

Katie Beth jumped off the driving board repeatedly today. But, daddy was dying from treading water for so long.

Everyone had a great time.

Karen and I brought over all the fixings and my dad had the steaks. The weather had a small break so we moved out side.

A great beer. My dad received this from the Terrapin brewery representative. He decided to get it out. He is thinking that it is time to start clearing out his beer cooler at the house to make way for all the beers that will becoming soon into the state.

The beer is double the ingredients of regular Terrapin’s Rye Pale Ale. It has nice balanced flavor, but Karen thinks the rye is too much.

We are celebrating the Alabama beer law changing to allow beer with up to 13.9% ABV. Jim Trolinger brought a great beer (Noël Baladin) to drink tonight at The Nook.

Beverly is holding the beer and announcing the great thing that Jim had done. Jim was very nice to offer this beer to everyone to try. It is representative of the kind of beer this law will allow. Almost everyone in The Nook got a sample of the beer. You could tell that Jim was proud.

My dad was interviewed tonight at The Nook about Free The Hops’ bill being signed. Everyone had a great time having WHNT 19 in the house. I know my dad has enjoyed the attention.

The story was the lead in story during the 10 o’clock news and on the morning newscast, too. The story tried to present multiple viewpoints, but some of the other viewpoint were not educated on the issues.

If you saw the story, I was the guy in the Hawaii shirt walking throughout the video.

What a great beer!

But, it is on it’s way out the door, because it was not selling well
at The Nook.

The Nook is clearing out slow moving beers. You get a free glass with your beer. My dad doesn’t care about glassware so I generally get extra glasses without having to drink the beers.

Hmmm. This is a great stout beer. I know the picture doesn’t show it, but the beer produced a nice head when poured into the glass.

The flavors are chocolate and a little vanilla, which make the flavor seem close to milk chocolate.

Karen has had it with tears from chopping onions. You are looking at her solution.

You may think why not glasses, but they don’t stop the problem. As you cut an onion, the amino acid sulfoxides are released into the air and form syn-propanethial-S-oxide. This chemical triggers the lachrymal gland to stimulate tear production to flush away the chemical. You have to block the syn-propanethial-S-oxide from reaching your eyes.
