Pajamas and Pancakes

Katie Beth’s school, Asbury School, is having a Pajamas and Pancakes day. All the children get to wear pajamas to school and they are having pancakes for lunch.

Katie Beth is very excited about the day and has been looking forward to it.

The picture is of her as she arrived for school this morning in pajamas and with the milk for the class lunch.

Huntsville Hockey Club

Katie Beth and I finally had a chance to go see the Huntsville Hockey Club play. Katie Beth had fun cheering for the players.

If you are looking for some fun, the Huntsville Hockey Club plays Tuesday at 7 PM in the VBCC area. There is free parking in the south parking garage and just enter in the lower south entrance of the arena.

Hiking on Rainbow Mountain

The weather is wonderful today with the temperature at 61°F. The wind is blowing up the side of Rainbow Mountain.

The hiking is great. We are seeing a lot of hikers and friendly dogs.

We are climbing all over the rocks and fallen tree.

Katie Beth is very excited about Christmas. She is worried about Santa Cluas, too. She has just finished placing out a plate of gingerbread cookies and a jar of milk, but she wanted to clean the fireplace before he arrives.

We have been having a wonderful time. Poor Katie Beth has come down with a bad cold, but she has been a trouper even with an earache.

We have hiked a little, cooked a little, and relaxed a lot. We could be coming here again real soon.

Galaxy of Lights

We have a wonderful evening strolling through the Galaxy of Lights. The weather was just perfect with temperature in the high 60′s.

Allison Tofflemire and the Riggle’s Family (Elizabeth, Bob, Matthew, and Michael) joined us for the walk.

First Day of Mother’s Day Out

Karen found this sign on the front door of Katie Beth’s classroom.

Katie Beth has started back to school. Karen was looking for a two or three day program. Last year’s school, Holy Family School, was too full to let us send Katie Beth just a few days a week. And, they are really setup for just daycare from 8 to 3 for 5 days a week for four year olds.

Today, Katie Beth worked on Spanish colors and music. She already has a field trip planned, too.

Karen was impressed with the security, too. Fingerprint scans are used to check in and pick Katie Beth.

Katie Beth said she had a great time. She is really ready to head back on Friday.

Walking in the Spring On Rainbow Mountain

Katie Beth is having a wonderful time here in the water. She was hoping to find tadpoles.

The weather is nice, but the temperature is rising quickly.

It all ended when Katie Beth fell on the trail into a poison ivy plant! We went right home for a scrub down from top to bottom. The plants are all covered with the shiny oils of the poison ivy.

Green U: A Festival for the Environment

Treehouse Progress

Progress has been slow, but we are getting there. I think Katie Beth likes the wood block from the scraps and the temporary swing better than anything.

I am hoping to finish up the lower level soon and move on to the upper level.

We are still looking for a wooden swing set to be added to it.

We are all having a great time. My sister, Hope, is in town with her family. My mother joined us, too.

Huntsville Stars’ Andy Machado’s Bat

And then, Andy Machado gave Katie Beth a bat. What a guy!

We have a Andy Machado baseball card so now we have to get Andy to sign all of them for us.

Katie Beth and Chuck “Chuckie” Caufield

We have been away for over a month, but we got to come home to a Huntsville Star’s double header. Karen is still recovering from being sick. So, I took Katie Beth to the game.

Beside getting see all of our baseball friends, Katie Beth got to visit with Chuckie between games. She had Chuckie sign one of her baseballs. Chuckie lend over and gave Katie Beth a big hug. Chuckie asked where she had been for so long, because he had missed hearing her in the crowd. (Katie Beth loves to shouting “Go Chuckie” when Chuckie comes up to bat.) Chuckie asked Katie Beth when she is going to throw out another first pitch.

Katie Beth is going out of this world. Judge Baldwin’s staff made a wonderful Ice Cream Sunday topped with blueberries, strawberries, marichino cherries and chocolate!

What a 4th of July!

We started by panning for gold. I know I saw sparkles in my pan, but we had to get to hiking Helen Hunt Falls.

But, it all ended with the police ordering a forced evacuation of the area due a forest fire. And, the car wouldn’t start so a park range drove us to the Golden Bee.

Over head, we have seen fire retardant planes flying.

Our Hertz agents don’t know how to get us another rental car without getting their car back. We explained where their car was and they are still wondering what to do.

Well, we continue relax at the Golden Bee. Some of us are really relaxing.

Uncle Wilber Fountain

Katie Beth is loving and hating it. A lot of fun in the water. But, the water is ice cold and the wind is just a blowing.

Uncle Wilber Fountain is a dancing water fountain named after a man that gave music to the children of Colorado Springs.

Barr Camp

We had a great hike today to Barr Camp. We hiked from a about 6,500 feet to 10,200 feet. We hiked 7 miles up to the camp and another 7 back down to Manitou Springs. The parking in Manitou Springs was so bad that we had to walk another mile to our the car.

The scenery was just wonderful. The temperature was hot in the beginning, but the temperature cooled off nicely.

This was Katie Beth’s first time to Barr Camp. She said it was a lot of fun. Carrying Katie Beth turned into a experience to say the still.
