To Catch A CookI was in the mood for food and reading so I picked up “To Catch A Cook” by Joanne Pence. Joanne Pence writes a series that has food as a part of the mystery. “To Catch A Cook” is a part of the “Angie Amalfi Mystery” series.

You can even get some of recipes for the food in the books at the writer’s web site.

I have started reading Dr. Nightingale Enters the Bear Cave by Lydia Adamson. So far, all of Lydia Adamson's books have been nice light reads.

In “Dr. Nightingale Enters the Bear Cave”, Didi starts off what was going to be nice week in the woods by finding someone dead in her cabin.

I have finally finished Bubbles In Trouble. This book was a little overboard for me. It had many funny parts to keep me going.

Well, it looks like my next book is Bubbles in Trouble by Sarah Strohmeyer. My wife, Karen, said it was good. I remember her laughing while she was reading it. I assuming the laughing means good.

We'll see…

Dr. Nightingale Seeks Greener PasturesWell, I finally sat down and finished this book. The quality of this book was similar to Lydia Adamson's Dr. Nightingale Races the Outlaw Colt that was reviewed here, but this book's story line had more depth. Adamson's style of jumping between scenes worked well given this story take place in multiple locations.

In this book, we find Dr. Nightingale looking into racehorses as a way to expand her shrinking vet pracitice due the declining dairy business in Hillsbrook in Dutchess County, New York.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. It is a good light read.

Dr. Nightingale: Races The Outlaw Colt was quick read. It is a series book in the A Deirdre Quinn Nightingale Mystery series.

The story starts out with a celebration of Wynton Chung's second year with the Hillsbrook Police Department ending in his death. Deirdre's police detective boyfriend, Allie Voegler, goes off the depth end on this case feeling his friend's death is his fault. His police captain, Joe Giugh, tells him to get out of town if he wants to keep his job after beating on lady during questioning. This situation has Deirdre hot on the case, but possible in over her head given that she is shot at.

I think I would call this a summer read. The plot was easy to follow, but the characters may be too thin for some readers.
